In the interest of providing some actual content, let's check out the video since it seems to work now.
-Whittle's first point about the pamphlet drops is invalid, especially when considering the extent of the US firebombing campaign over Japan up to that point. The pamphlets said that "We're going to drop bombs on you", not "We're going to drop one big mother fucker of a bomb on you that's going to kill loads and loads of you in a single shot and irradiate you and your land for years to come." Dropping propaganda pamphlets into a war zone does not count as "warning". Plus, you know, mass evacuations are totally easy.
Not to mention that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were chosen specifically for their lack of damage, specifically so US observers could determine exactly how nasty the bombs were.
His second 'point', such as it is, is so detestable as to be laughable. Stewart made the, to any rational person, fair point that the bomb should've been dropped out at sea as a warning. Whittle argues that, because the Manhattan Project used a lot of resources and 'only' produced four bombs, that it would've been a waste of resources and a risk that the bomb wouldn't work. Come off it. He then goes off into a snarky, narcissistic rant which pretty much occludes his point about Stewart being "snarky and narcissistic.
-When exactly did Stewart claim that US casualties weren't on the rise?
-I always love it when commentators feel the need to talk about military resources being integrated into civilian areas. EVERYBODY does that. WE do that.
-Whittle also makes the point that Japan would not have surrendered without the use of the bombs, at least not quickly. Bullshit. Whittle manages to (conveniently) leave out mention of communiques intercepted by US forces from Japan's foreign minister to its Russian ambassador well before August 1945 that were trying to explore ways to (get ready for it) end the war.
Ok, bitchez! Let's keep the personal attacks, while amusing, down to a minimum, please. Also, past bans are hardly relevant, considering you both have been brought back. Now, I love ya both and love arguing and slamming you both even more, so please cool it a little bit so that we can all continue to verbally bitchslap each other on a regular basis because, really, people like us that can handle it are hard to come by. I watched some of this while I was getting ready for work this morning. They show a repeat @ 5am. It was anti-climactic to say the least. I noticed Stewart really distanced himself from Obama though. Gee wizz.
