Hi all!

--lurk mode disengaged--

I need some decent corporate attire. Something better than I have right now.

Oh god, this conversation is going to get weird. I hate womens clothes. I hate 3/4 length sleeves. I hate weird buttons. I hate the weird necklines, weird shirt patterns, etc etc etc. Shirts that are too short. I even have issues finding good fitting pants with pockets for cryin' out loud. I'm too tall apparently. Stupid midget designers.

I want businessmen clothes, without the weirdly too broad shoulders, the tightness across the chest, and billowy waist. I tend to wear mens shirts and just deal with the annoyance but I'm trying to move into a better role and I need to look good. I need a feminine cut to offset the shaved head you seeeee.

I am just so lost with this. Obviously K-Mart Awesome Fashion isn't working out for me. I need something custom. I visited a dressmaker and she asked why I don't just dress like a woman... blah. I called a menswear place who said they couldn't really help

What kind of place should I be looking for when it comes to getting the right kind of clothes? I'm getting frustrated with it all. :< anyone have any experience with this?

Dress in what you feel comfortable in, and they'll give you whatever it is you want in the meetings, so long as you're good enough professionally.

If you're good enough, it doesn't matter what you wear. I've learnt that.

The last thing anyone wants to see corporately is someone looking uncomfortable, so don't wear something you're not comfortable in. There's nothing wrong with looking confident in a smart suit. No matter which audience it was directed toward in the shop.

Oh, and there isn't a place to go when you want to have your cake and eat it. I've tried.

is there an Old Navy over there? they seem to have some not overly feminine type business attire, just not any suits, per se. Also, you could get measured and then take your measurements into a mens' store if it's a suit you're looking for....that way you'll be better equipped to finding exactly what fits you. ;)

Hrm alright. I think I need to buy the business shirts and get them altered, or go to a 'mens' store and get some shirts made. I figure its easier adjust the shoulders/tuck in the sides a bit than to replace like, everything.

This has just became an issue recently because I've been told to prepare for something big in the future. that means buy new shoes I think... :P

Thanks for the help guys :D

Have you thought about a haberdashery? Or Men's Warehouse? In both cases, you could buy shirts and suits that are tailored made to fit you. A good tailor can work wonders. Yes, it's more expensive but the fit just might be worth it. Then, you would have the clothes you like and you would be comfortable. The best of both worlds.

my girl has the same question...she'll be home in a couple of weeks and has been wearing camo 24/7 for the past year- and before that lived in cargo shorts and polo's....she wants a more polished look for work when she goes back, and has also lost a bunch of weight over the past year- but she hates girl clothes and doesnt want to loose her 'look'.....i think i'll start a butch fashion line. it will be clothing cut for women but with kd lang flare. hmmmm.......
