and here is my texas jane with her big sister, drama queen. drama is an 83 yamaha virago 500, which i bought and then sold to my former boss. shes called drama due to having so many problems when i owned her. my old boss has since fixed all those, which is good.

drama was owned by the partner of one of my favourite people who died recently while out riding. i ride to keep his memory alive. i rode to the funeral, which was 3 hours away, and tied a yellow ribbon to my bike. im not overly spiritual, but i felt that the ribbon absorbed the scents of the roads, and it was my final gift to him... sharing one last time the roads we loved. im also one of the few kiwis who knows what "pegs down' stands for, and my pegs were down for about 2 weeks. since his death, however, ive found myself to be a lot more aggressive on the roads. if a car does something wrong that endangers me, im not shy at screaming abuse at the top of my lungs, and i dont give a rats who hears.
in short... i loooove my bike, texas. i ride with an open face lid as i hate full facers. bugs etc at 100k dont hurt too much, but they can leave a nasty bruise. i did have a stone flicked across two lanes of traffic that hit my left leg, which is all scar tissue due to a bike accident of my own. now that nearly made me jump off the bike. that scar tissue hurts just being shaved over, never mind being hit by a 100k stone! i love the risks i get to take each day. ive seen things id never have seen otherwise from the saddle of my bike.
but the main thing... watch out for cars. they ARE out to hurt you, some are out to kill you. never, ever forget that, and you should stay alive.

cheers. as you can probably see, shes changed a bit. that top pic was right after i bought her. in the second pic shes had a top box and saddle bags added. since then, ive put on a tank bag. the saddle bags dont get used often due to the chance of them being stolen. top box and tank bag cant go anywhere without a heavy duty tool kit.
If anyone is interested the group that I ride with is going to have a lunch at High Rocks Pub and then go for a ride on this saturday the 18th. The first gathering of the year.

I ended up buying a vstar 650
had some great rides on her, upgraded the stock pipes to something that in the end was probably too loud, took off the pillion seat - was going for the harley low rider look.
dropped her once and scratched the exhaust@#$^@#$^ (slipped in a puddle at a traffic light, stalled)
I've ridden quite a few different bikes since then (virago 250, gsxr750(ohgodyes) honda vtr250, gs500, gpx250 drz400) and I decided I don't like how cruisers handle, no matter how fucking awesome they look. i think its because I live in a city thats hilly and has very very potholed roads and crazy traffic. was nearly killed by a cab twice.
I also preffer to go FAST. the vtr250 was amazing for what it was. so very light the gixxer.. oh god. 170kmph in second gear?! oh god.
I sold my bike- now im saving up a bit extra to get the gixxer

I definately love my gixxer. From October to April I was riding a friends Kawasaki ZX6R (I left my bike with a friend to ride, since I had access to the other bike) and it is fun but not the same.
I have sat on all of the 600 class bikes and the Suzuki fits best. I would love a yellow 08, but I still have my yellow 04. I also keep debating about lowering my bike about 1/2 an inch so I can just about flat foot it, but I don't know if I want to.
I ride with a bunch of girls that ride the sportbikes, and we have fun spirited rides.
So I made the last post in May and times have changed. I went to a dealer Motocorsa for an event June 6th and found my new love. I traded in my GSXR on the 13th and picked her up on Tuesday this week.
I got a 2008 Ducati Hypermotard, demo model with 3500 miles on it. I never really felt the need to modify my old bike, but this bike wants new levers, open clutch cover, colored pressure plate and springs, exhaust and a few other mods.
It was presented to me in the red room after purchase.
